


It was around that time that he started recording train sounds and composing music while riding the rails. Travelling by train across the U.S. in the mid-’90s, exploring his family roots, “I realized my real passion was trains,” explains West Millette. And the family tradition continues, with West Millette noting that his 10-year-old son has been riding the rails with him since he was four and is now a fellow “train freak.” Leo passed away two years ago, and that’s when West Millette wrote the last song on the album, Leo West Lullabye. “I had this beautiful ride on the big red CNR machine, and the real passion started,” he said.
